The SkyWay transportation system is rather a complex and comprises several systems and subsystems. In the early days, SkyWay Technologies Co. used different software for design, engineering and construction of its systems, which were not integrated.

Consequently, data sharing was virtually impossible and development processes were not aligned. Thus, to bring our transport system to life, we decided to use digital technology to help us inmanaging our innovative products in a cost-effective way. The core of this approach is Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which provides the opportunity for digital design and product development.
The main principle of 3DEXPERIENCE is a creation of digital platform project design, mechanical engineering and production. Now, hundreds of SkyWay designers and engineers create digital twins of products, which could include millions and even dozens millions of elements. While obtaining the integrated digital twin of a product, we minimize time for possible amendments and eliminate conflicts and errors, when various components of the transportation system interface. In the future, SkyWay also plans to implement digital approach at the production facilities.
3DEXPERIENCE Platform also provides SkyWay with the opportunity to implement Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) approach. This implies connection between digital twin, functional model and RFLP (Requirements, Functional, Logical and Physical) model. We consider 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s RFLP approach as an additional competitive advantage because it provides a collaborative engineering methodology that captures, manages and tracks product requirements with complete traceability.
3DEXPERIENCE platform can also help us to implement an early validation of the requirements. By means of simulation modeling, we can trace the requirements before the production stage that will help us to save time for design and production stages and reduce the cost of products. As a result, this approach greatly contributes to a higher quality of the product throughout its lifecycle compared with the traditional approach.
